Friday Night Philosophy

A lot of food for thought there Snowy. I, also had neglected Freud over the years, and will also probably discover things I thought I didn't need to know.
I'd hate to get to he stage of over analysing everything that we do, but I can see that Freud's reasons for anxiety make a lot of sense. I'm going to try to marry Freud's theories to Maslow's needs. Interestingly, Part Three of the "Century of Self" makes reference to this, and says that Maslow's self actualisers were responsible for Reagan's and Thatcher's rise. I'm not so sure about that.

I can see that the Reagan years are responsible for the rejection of the so-called "Nanny State" by US conservatives, the same Nanny State that big business is now running to for bailouts. I wonder what the supposed "self actualisers" have to say about that.
