Golden Oldies

I've created a new group called "Golden Oldies" here. It is intended for boring old farts like me, and boring young farts who like to know what the more "mature" Voxers are thinking, if that's what you could call it. Anyway, anyone wanting to join, please do so. It's proving tremendously popular with an impressive overnight 100% increase in numbers.

Snowy, Okay on the new group, very good, but I am trying to separate and distinguish among "boring" and "old" and "farts."

I admit to being a bit old. I have my AARP and Medicare cards. I am eligible for nearly all senior discounts. I take a nap most afternoons, and enjoy--actually, revel--in them. I'm not too good climbing stairs now, and certainly cannot ride a bike any more.

I belong to a nearby Senior Center, and work there as a volunteer Peer Counselor.

But, to continue: I don't think I am "boring." Actually, I have concluded that I am quite an interesting person! I hope that same opinion is shared by at least some others, and believe that it is in several cases anyhow.

(Being an "interesting person" must be distinguished from what law enforcement officials mean when they say that someone is a "person of interest." I would deny being the latter. My worst violation ever was an overdue library book!)

But, in particular, I don't identify with the "fart" aspect at all. I do have many and varied physical symptoms and disabilities, but this (flatulence) happily doesn't rank high among them!

Still, I do think the new group is a good idea. And congratulations on the rapid growth in membership!

I was wondering if it would prove to be a group for "old guys," or would be open to all, regardless of gender. But now I see that Geology Byotch has answered that question. Welcome--and that's another 50% increase in membership today!

You are fortunate indeed to enjoy such a full life, DoctorD. I too would plead "not guilty' to "boring" and "old", but I think I should stop there.

And may I also welcome Geology Byotch to the group. We are indeed on a roll. Yes, I did try to make clear that the group is not about old people discussing the best method to relieve haemorrhoid pain, or such like, but to muse about our thoughts on life, the universe and all that. There are many younger Voxers who have much to offer, and I am privileged to call many my friend. So, those younger Voxers are very welcome to join.

I suppose that's what I like best about Vox. It is a meeting place where an interchange of ideas can take place without regard to country, class or creed, to which I might add, age. I rather like that.
