Happy Birthday to me.
I'll turn 70 in a week or so. So, I thought it was about time I grew up, and started to learn a bit about this life. As a present to me, I've ordered this:
and this:
I wonder if I'll understand them. Oh well, I've still got another 30 years or so to figure it all out, I guess...
I've also ordered this, written by my good friend here on Vox, Patricia Volonakis Davis. Yay, Patricia! I'll probably learn more about life from your book than the other two, truth be known...

Any other big plans, over and above studied Quantum Physics, that is?
Life is always too short, but I´d like to read your thoughtful posts for another 30 years!
Nah, let's do it properly, and find another universe...
If you are starting the celebrations a week early you will be in no fit condition to appreciate the momentous occasion itself. Build your innings slowly Snowy.
We will all start a "retirement fund" for you to ensure 30 more years of whiskey supply.
That's very kind of you, GOF. I'm told whisky is a good preservative. That's the only reason I drink it, you know...
I know, Cat. I have that effect on women. Its been the curse of my life...
I have books on my list too Snowy - though not quite as cerebral as your selection.
I'm sure we will both have a wonderful day next week.....
Especially if we can convince her to write the uncensored version. ;o)
Thanks PG. Aren't they the same thing?
* apologies for poor grammar - my mind is blank probably due to sleep deprivation and I couldn't think of a better word.
By choice: Balvenie Doublewood 12 or Talisker single malt.
By economic necessity: Grants.
I've never had the pleasure of Balvenie Doublewood, I will look out for it though, and raise a glass in honour of your birthday!
When I tried to buy a bottle here I discovered it was over $90 a bottle. I've been throwing out broad hints for a bottle on my birthday, but falling on deaf ears I suspect. If I crack the jackpot, I'll be toasting your health, also.
