Singapore Museum
The Museum was just around the corner from where we were staying. We were rather surprised to find David there. Well, not quite, but every bit impressive as the original we saw in Florence four years ago.
There is a lot of memorabilia from early Singapore, such as the Chinese funeral carriage below.
And a rickshaw. Who knows who once rode in it. I spared a thought for the guy/s who pulled it too..
But, to me the Second World War display was most interesting. The
Japanese foot soldiers were issued with bicycles some of which are on
display below, together with a Japanese flag in the foreground. I wonder how many of the young Japanese who rode those bicycles survived the war.
